Mahmoud Qasassy
On September 20, a 16-year-old Palestinian boy was crushed to death under the treads of an Israeli military bulldozer. Israeli bulldozers were destroying farmland in the area.
There are so many incidents of children being killed as a result of the Israeli occupation of Gaza and the West Bank that never make ripples in our media or national conscience. I want to mention this particular incident for two reasons. One, it is yet another example of the human cost of the occupation. In this case, a teenage boy was killed—for having the audacity to throw stones at an armored military bulldozer.
The other reason is this incident’s similarity to the death of Rachel Corrie, an American killed in Gaza. I know her name—I didn’t have to look it up; it is there, lodged in my brain. But, as I write this, I’ve no idea what the name is of this youth who, like Rachel Corrie, was crushed to death under a bulldozer made and sold by an American company and operated by the Israeli military.
We should never forget Rachel Corrie or her life—her humanity and love, her work, her ideas. And I want to never forget this 16-year-old boy in Gaza. A boy who had a family, who had dreams and loves and hopes. He, like Rachel Corrie, was resisting the occupation the only way he knew how.
After writing this, I had to look up his name—it was Mahmoud Qasassy.
Note:
The Middle East Media Center (http://www.imemc.org/article/50521) reported the boy’s name as Mahmoud Qasassy. The AFP reported the boy’s name as Mahmud Kayed. This probably is the result of language barriers and different personal name structures in different cultures; I decided to go with the name from the MEMC.
Posted again
I had to post this again, I don’t know why I find this so funny, but it sure is…
I particularly think the left side of the chart is hilarious.
Almost Pure Science on Propylene Glycol - A Perry Mason moment.
Ok, here it is, better than any opinion I could possibly give in response/defense to my last post. You are correct Pman it’s not listed as a carcinogen, furfeatherfins - you said exactly what came to mind when I read the first response - think Vioxx.
Anyway, the MSDS says plenty (I will list a link to the 2 websites I reference that have the MSDS for Propylene Glycol - technically there is only 1 standard MSDS - the reason I used 2 sites is because the information is presented in different formats. Same information.) - Although it is only listed as a 2,1,1,1 in the HMIS ratings, which I assume you will say is not a big deal and I might agree with you if, and only if the exposure was a rare occurence. We are talking about daily exposure over many years. Considering that, it is a big deal. I also included an excerpt from another website.
This is not a scientific report, but it does have references to scientific reports.
